Mark Hernandez Straightens 1379

Mark Hernandez, PT was kind enough to come by and give us a seminar on how to keep our hunchbacks from getting worse and worse. He brought props, posture photos, and funny pictures of himself doing the exercises. He was so kind to help us through some of the exercises — some on the floor and some on a back-stretching apparatus that we are going to keep at the store if anyone wants to try it out.

I won’t pretend to say this as eloquently as he did, but I think his main point was that we have all gotten used to using our lower backs and our necks to be our major mobility axes. We twist and turn and look down and look up by bending our necks and our lower backs so our upper backs loose their mobility. We need to stretch and force our upper backs to stay mobile.

Mark will not come back for a while and he can only see patients with a prescription from a doctor so if you’d like the info he presented on Saturday, email us and we can get it to you somehow. Next seminar will be February 20th. Kim Obermeyer will give us advice on quick and healthy snacks for us and our kids while we’re on the go.
