Make The Trek To Krause Springs

Located 30 miles West of Austin, Krause Springs has been privately owned for fifty years. It’s shady and it’s rustic. Bring your own food and drinks. The kids will need water shoes or old shoes to wear in the water and while hiking around the property. Entry fees are $5 per person (kids under 4 free). This is a spot you can head out to first thing in the morning or take the kids later in the day.

If you and your friends are looking for a place with shade to take the kids, Krause Springs is it. You’ll get the long, slow exercise we all need during the Austin summers.

I went with my family to Krause Springs in May. There is a central natural spring area that I’d describe as a swimming hole, and it’s the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen. It’s big, and it has waterfalls and a rope swing. There’s also a spring fed swimming pool, which is cool and very refreshing.

They have overnight camping there. We pitched our tent, and although it was crowded, it worked out well. And nothing beats starting out the morning with a jump into a beautiful and chilly swimming hole!
